I have been advised offline that my initial question was not clear enough. Sorry about the confusion. I will attempt to rectify that now.
My experience has shown me that the DeskTrac RSS will read the DeskTrac AND the MaxTrac radio completely, but will not allow frequency changes to be made to the radio. (At least I was not able to do that with the RSS I have. I have used MaxTrac RSS to program the radio itself, which is now working on the freqs I want it to.) So, it appears that the DeskTrac RSS changes the remote control interface configurations of the **DeskTrac itself** - we must remember there are also "Remote" accessory items in the MaxTrac radio that operate through the 16-pin accessory connector... Confused yet? ;-) So my problem is I need to know how the MaxTrac radio is setup to properly "speak" to the DeskTrac, and then also I need to know how the DeskTrac itself is setup for remote control connection. Does anyone have the DeskTrac RSS manual, or know if it is still available from Motorola? (Considering the "limitations" of the DeskTrac RSS, I only assume it can't be too thick a book...) Thanks!
