My friend started a year ago a wide area trunked system that will be IP linked
coast to coast, based upon digital repeaters linked via the internet. He is
looking for Repeater owners across the nation looking to create new revenue
streams by leasing their channels to the system in return for compensation. If
you own repeaters and don't want to be run out of business by Nextel and
Verizon, we are joining up to create our own Push to Talk Network where dealers
will control their own destiny and provide themselves a gateway to better sales
. I personally converted 4 of my conventional only channels here in So Cal to
Dual Mode and when the networked trunking goes on line, they will be networked
and trunked only. I will be converting my remaining conventional analog
channels to this as well. Only my LTR system will remain in Analog.
There will also be an wide area Amateur gateway constructed as well providing
nationwide access to those wishing to link their system to a larger network for
those with interests in digital radio.

This system will be based on ICOM IDAS Trunking which is the same AMBE vocoder
that Kenwood is using ( they are interoperable in conventional mode but not
trunked ).

The groups website is www.Push-to-Talk.org
