I would think that you would want to do a 1/2 wave helical. This will get you closer to resonance without requiring a ground plane and as a normal mode helix -- will radiate in a vertical fashion. That's certainly quite an undertaking. -- Kris Kirby, KE4AHR Disinformation Analyst
