I found that the TS-64's high-pass filter is just a TOUCH too aggressive, but our repeaters run them and sound fine... I can tell the difference between our TS-64 equipped MASTR II's and the ones with the stock GE boards in them now, after running both on different machines for a few years... it's very subtle, but it's there.
Otherwise, electronically the TS-64MSTII with the built-in daughterboard for a MASTR II works great. Only other problem I've had is that two of them have "backed themselves off the pins"... the springs in the molex assembly for the MASTR II pins are a little too stiff. Without the factory foam rubber in place on the Station cover, and the cover on and screwed down (like it's supposed to be, but lots of MASTR II stations out there are missing those screws that go through the shield cover lid, the TS64MSTII will slowly work its way UPWARD against gravity and eventually do "funny things" when a pin no longer touches the station/ system board's pins. Simple fix... a little foam tape above them and put the lid on... works fine. But we didn't really know we needed to do it until the SECOND one backed itself off the pins and locked up a repeater in a very strange way. :-) It'll be an easy retrofit as we visit the sites that have the TS64-MSTII boards... -- Nate Duehr, WY0X [email protected]
