You are correct Mike, 

However the MTS2000 can be easier to program being able to enter direct 
frequency entry in the programming screens and can be setup to be menu driven 
(scan, scan list programming, power level, simplex operation) and so on. The 
480 uses a "channel list" so a "lookup/channel conversion chart" is needed when 
programming.

Both radios weigh about the same and perform similiar.

TK480 is also a great radio.

i have msf5000 repeater in simplex, full duplex
with telephone interconnect...working nice. which handheld device will be
utilized the best and programmed to use DTMF as telephone with TPL to this
repeater 800mhz. thanks!
