You are correct Mike, However the MTS2000 can be easier to program being able to enter direct frequency entry in the programming screens and can be setup to be menu driven (scan, scan list programming, power level, simplex operation) and so on. The 480 uses a "channel list" so a "lookup/channel conversion chart" is needed when programming.
Both radios weigh about the same and perform similiar.
