The 100 to 200ma to hold the coil in on some of the older LVDs can be more than the entire load at some sites. I run several solar powered digipeater sites where the standby current is <50ma.
Last summer I ran across the Samlex LVD's that are all solid state, and the load is only 4ma. http://www.samlex.com/pdf/products/batteryguard_en.pdf Tessco carries the 40A version for about $65 (Gold Price) (Non stock/special order). I have had good luck with them so far. Chuck n0nhj
