That's the information I was looking for. I've never had to build a pullup circuit before and my basic electronics is getting a bit rusty. I'm mostly an appliance user now days. Any way the Alinco has on pin 8 a +5vdc at less than 50mA. I could use that as the constant source and shouldn't need a very big resistor (1K ohm). Would someone have a link or pointer to a pull up circuit that might work with this? Just don't want to mess things up. Thanks for your help. Stephen VE6CPU
