My last on-air conversation with him was driving down from one of the D-STAR repeater sites that was used temporarily until the system moved to the higher location here, trying to dial in D-STAR callsign routing information on a bumpy road, and both of us laughing when we'd both mis-set our radios and sometimes we could hear each other, sometimes we couldn't... we alternated between cell phone and D-STAR trying to figure out what we'd done wrong on both ends and eventually we got it right.
