Richard,

What version TLD1693 amplifier do you have? There are significant
differences between the TLD1693C, TLD1693D, and TLD1693E PAs. The
capacitors in question have slightly different values, and the four final
transistors are different. Since the four finals in your PA are M9625, I
think you have either a TLD1693C or TLD1693D amplifier. What is the part
number stamped on the PA board? Incidentally, the TLD1693 PA is designed
for 150.8-162 MHz, so it is possible that the damage might have been caused
by operating it out of band. Are you operating your PA at 2m?

I agree with Jeff that the burned capacitor is C531, which is either a 30 pF
or a 36 pF silver mica capacitor with 5% tolerance and rated at 500 volts.
If 30 pF, it is Motorola part 2183366K18, and if 36 pF, it is part
2184494B43. Unfortunately, both parts are NLA from Motorola but should be
available from commercial suppliers. I find it odd that the two halves of
the PA are not symmetrical- one would expect the two parallel PA sections to
have the same part numbers. C531 is the mirror of C527, your #2, so I would
expect it to be 36 pF, but neither the schematic nor the parts list supports
that assumption.

Subject: RE: [Repeater-Builder] Micor TLD1693 Amp

Well, there seems to be a bit of a mystery. The schematic in the
base/repeater station manual I have shows:

C531
43L
30M
24H

But the parts list shows:
C531
43L
36M
24H

So is it 30 or 36 pF? Who you gonna believe?

I checked a mobile Micor manual, and it's listed as 30 pF in the parts list;
the schematic doesn't show the component values for the three different
ranges, just the C531 designator.

Maybe Eric or someone else has a newer manual than I have that has that
discrepency corrected. What's the part number for the PA board itself
(probably begins with TLD8xxx)?
