That figure sounds like retail. I think I paid about 1900, but that was
several years ago. My local PD uses TKR-840 repeaters feeding 100 watt TPL
amplifiers in their UHF radio system.

Jed,

The Kenwood TKR-740 is their top-of-the-line repeater, and it is intended to
be used with a power amplifier. I have a TKR-740 that I have mated to a
Motorola Micor TLD1692D PA, and I don't think there is a better combination
on the planet. The TKR-740 can be set to put out from about 100 mW to 5 W,
so it can feed almost any good PA. More info is here:

Subject: [Repeater-Builder] opinions for a public safety repeater

Hey guys,
Need some input here. I'm putting together a public safety repeater for my
local FD. It's going to be really simple. Given the reliability factor,
we're going with a kenwood. Here's the million dollar question, i need some
input. How about a kenwood tkr750 or a tkr740. I've run several 750s with
great results. I have not played with the 740, but i know it has an amazing
receiver, but yet only pushes a few watts. Any suggestions for a good amp,
perhaps cresend i think it is.

Thanks,
Jed
