Actually, with regards to a D-DSTAR signal opening up an analog receiver set to
decode only PL, it can happen. I had an analog repeater (Motorola) co-channeled
with a D-STAR repeater. The users of the D-STAR repeater would in fact open up
my repeaters receiver and pass through. I'm trying to recall what the PL was
that that I had used before I had to change it (thanks to D-STAR). It was
either 100.0 or 123.0 . So in short, Yes a D-STAR signal can open up an analog
receiver set to decode PL.

Also, if your still looking for a recording of D-STAR transmission (both raw
and decoded), you may find them at http://www.hamradio-dv.org .
