Why not just ssh to the Linux box that's already doing other things at the site (IRLP, EchoLink, APRS Gateway, whatever... it's probably there, right?) and program the controller via a serial port? DTMF is so 1990's. :-) Seriously. Touch-Tones? That's just the "aww, crap, I can't get to my smartphone or my AT&T data coverage here sucks" backup system! Heh heh. We have SSH and serial ports and we know how to use them! "Caution: Control operator is using Technology. Stay back 500 feet!" p.s. Yes, another shameless plug for the S-COM 7330. No I'm not paid by them. Yes, since they're locals I know all the local guys. No I don't know or care if any other controllers have serial port programming capability... we've already covered that this is religion, not tech. But... this particular one *is* tech. (GRIN) p.p.s. I'm pretty sure Arcom has serial programmability, if I remember right. No idea what LinkComm has. I was "raised" by those who were annoyed by LinkComm somehow over ten years ago, and saying LinkComm around them gives them conniptions and foaming at the mouth. p.p.p.s. Also, I'd throw high marks up there for the MASTR II-specific controller that's out there that goes in the card slot, but he said he wasn't using a MASTR II. We're all biased. Heh heh. -- Nate Duehr, WY0X [email protected] facebook.com/denverpilot twitter.com/denverpilot
