In my opinion, all smartphones suck, period. A "truly free" smartphone
would still suck for as long as it is "smart". What I want instead is
a dumbphone: a mobile device that has just enough "horsepower" to make
and receive phone calls on a standard GSM network, and not one iota
more. But I want this dumbphone to have free firmware, and dumbphones
have no separate app vs. baseband processors, thus the whole thing
would have to be 100% free in order for any part of it to be free in
any way.

I'm working on building such a Free Dumb Phone, but it will probably
be legal only in the Principality of Sealand and nowhere else. :-(
Go to your nearest Sealand embassy or consulate and ask for an
immigrant/refugee visa, and cite your country's repressive laws as the
reason you are seeking refuge.
