My phone says that the IMEI starts with 0049. I found this thread, which looks pretty comprehensive: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/ref-imei-efs-stuff-i93 00-including-t2393289. I tried installing several different stock ROMs, and I tried taking my phone to a repair shop, all for naught.
I don't mean to hijack your question; mostly, I am very interested to see if we can find a solution!
