You can cite me if you want: this has been published on a public mailing list anyway (that you can even point to if you want). > Since I am convinced by Replicant, I am pretty sure I want to install > it and not going back stock android but visitors could have a > different though. Backuping the stock OS is a good practice: - It can help to be able to restore it, in the case of warranties claims with devices vendors. - It also backups crucial data like the EFS partition. Note that the stock OS can also be Replicant since some vendors like Technoetical sell devices with Replicant preinstalled. I wonder however if having such instructions on the wiki (which would be an ideal place for that), would be a problem for the compliance with the free software distribution guidelines[1] or not. If it's not, it would be great to have two new pages in the wiki: - One about backuping as much as possible the user data: - For users running a stock Android distribution. Unlocking the bootloader erases such data so it's better to save the important parts before. - For users switching Replicant version or coming from another community Android distribution. - One for backuping as much as possible of the complete system References: ----------- [1]https://www.gnu.org/distros/free-system-distribution-guidelines.html Denis.
