Hi,

I think it would be a good idea to find a way to bridge the mailing list
and the forums together.

Right now I'm not participating much in the forums because it requires
JavaScript, and because I don't find it very convenient to use.

However people participating in the forums might not use the mailing
list because it's not very convenient for them to use.

So what do you think about the idea of bridging both?

And more importantly how could we implement that?
And are there ways to migrate from the Redmine forums to another
system?

I already know two systems that could do that:
- Hyperkitty: https://hyperkitty.readthedocs.io/en/latest/
- Discourse: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discourse_(software)

However I didn't try them.

As for hosting we can probably manage to get a new virtual machine at
the FSF for that.

As for the distribution to use we have some constraints:
- The distribution needs to be compliant with the FSDG
  guidelines[1].
- The distribution has to have a GRUB that includes patches[2] to boot
from an encrypted rootfs by supplying a key.

So the later requirement for now rules out GuiX, Parabola, Hyperbola.
Trisquel is known to be ok, and I've no idea if PureOS has such patches
or not.

I've been working on rebasing and cleaning up one of the grub crypt
patches, in a new attempt to get it upstream, but I've not
found yet the time to finish the work and send it.

Once it is upstreamed, it would just be a matter of waiting for the
next GRUB release for getting it, and we would also be able (with some
minor work) to have a GuiX, Parabola or Hyperbola VM there.
