Samsung smartphones and tablets usually have several variants for a given model.
For instance for the Galaxy SIII, the GT-I9300 variant is supported by Replicant but there are many other variants such as GT-I9305T, GT-I9305N, GT-I9308, SCH-I939, etc The Replicant project try to make sure that people wanting to run Replicant get devices with exactly the same variants that are supported. However, using I9300 instead of GT-I9300 can be very confusing. For instance under the cover of that variant, below the battery, there are markings with "MODEL: GT-I9300", and people might rightly expect to have "MODEL:I9300" instead and might wonder if the device they are looking at is exactly the same variant.
