Regarding the certificates you can try running preInstCA.sh script too on the HOST to see if that helps. I don't know what HOST distro you are using. It should be a later version of a Debian-based distro ideally. If however, you are using [a somewhat old] Debian 9 for the HOST ... it will be tricky unless you copy the certificates from another machine (with the up to date certs) using USB drive. Both the HOST and the GUEST need to have up-to-date certs.
