Microsoft has blogged about this feature before, but at the time it didn't have a name. It does now: Device Guard. The new feature will allow organizations to lock machines down so they run software only from trusted sources. When an app is run on a system with Device Guard, it is compared against a list of trustworthy software for that device. A decision is made as to whether the software is valid for that organization. Using special hardware and virtualization, that decision process is independent of the Windows OS, so that any attacker/malware that may have gained full privileges to the OS is unable to modify the list or execute unauthorized software.
