In my case it works without _major_ problems, but if i start by a remote ssh terminal i got at beginning:
/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/gtk-2.0/gtk/__init__.py:57: GtkWarning: could not open display 
  warnings.warn(str(e), _gtk.Warning)

then it works regularly
If i run after connecting with ssh -X i have no warning.
