BTW I thought about this feature just because "reportbug --kudos" failed to send the message directly to the maintainer (namely Gregor Herrmann, who sponsors my packages) and I "had to" thank him manually, which is also OK of course :). Feel free to mark this wontfix if you think it is not useful or worth the effort, I wanted at least to hear what others may think of it.
