My bad, sorry for not reading properly. In my better-lazy-loading branch I have 

+        self._max_diff_input_lines = 2 ** 20 # GNU diff cannot process 
arbitrary large files :(

and I haven't run into any problems testing with this myself. I even managed to 
do gcc-6 fine.
