Position: Programmer/Analyst

Job Purpose/ Description: 


Investments Domain (Equities, Fixed Income, Mortgages, Real Estate, and Credit 

  a.. Analyzes with strong investments business domain knowledge in the 
brokerage or investment banking industry, specifically in equities, fixed 
income, mortgages, real estate, and credit derivatives, involving front-office 
/ trading, middle-office support and operations, as well as portfolio 
management and research functions. 

Insurance, Pension & Annuity Domain 

  a.. Analyzes with strong pension and annuity product / business domain 
knowledge, including Life Insurance, Universal Life, After-Tax Annuities, and 
Retirement Plans, e.g., SRA, IRA, Keoghs, 401k, 403b. 

Trust Services, Educational Savings (529) Domain

  a.. Analyzes with strong trust services and educational savings knowledge, 
e.g., 529 College Savings Plans, Mutual Funds, and brokerage business domain 
  Corporate Support Domain (HR, Law, FAF, Accounting) 
  b.. Analyzes with strong corporate support domain knowledge of one or more 
functions, including Human Resources, Law, Compliance, Finance, and Accounting. 
  c.. Analyzes requirements for campaign execution and tracking, as well as 
channel integration and analytics, e.g., CRM. Excellent ability to work with 
business owners and AD teams to support applications that comprise components 
from different vendors; develops RFIs, RFPs, and business cases; monitors SLAs 
and Disaster Recovery requirements / testing with vendors. 
  d.. Excels at designing GUIs into visually compelling layouts with fluid 
navigation; adheres to enterprise GUI standards and extends to business 
application GUI requirements; may design screens / layouts for portal, web or 
rich client interfaces; adept at working with GUI design / tools, e.g., 
Photoshop, DreamWeaver or other comparable HTML editors, as well as 
Illustrator, PowerPoint, and Excel. 
  e.. Negotiates deliverables from initial requirements to final implementation 
by leading communication between business units and IT. 
  f.. Recommends buy vs. build decisions, as well as the development of new 
code vs. the reuse of existing code. 
  g.. Participates in component and data architecture design, performance 
monitoring, and product evaluations. 
  h.. Evaluates and implements new initiatives on process improvement and 
technology initiatives. 
  i.. Serves as initial point of escalation for all processing and operational 
  j.. Assists management in coordinating business area activities and balancing 
  k.. Analyzes complex performance and capacity issues with systems / 
applications software and / or system components. 
  l.. May design, implement and improve workflows, as well as assign projects. 

Tasks and Responsibilities: 


·         Completely adept at understanding and executing the details across 
multiple operations functions within the end-to-end flow of operations.

·         Displays problem solving and analytical skills, using them to resolve 
business problems. 

·         Adept at understanding operational nuances across multiple business 

·         Excellent communication, analytical, negotiation, and leadership 
skills; solid technical and problem solving abilities. 

·         Responsible for supervising staff in the execution of projects.

·         May serve as back-up for manager. 

·         May have involvement with the business during its strategic planning 
and budget cycles to leverage knowledge and anticipate technology 
transformation potential from a customer perspective; provides buy vs. build 
recommendations; assists in platform determination. 


Required education/experience:


  a.. Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, 
Information Systems, or other related field. 
  b.. 10 plus years of IT work experience in applications programming / 
  c.. Excellent working knowledge of systems / applications software and the 
Information Technology industry; understands their role in supporting business 
requirements / technical solutions. 
  d.. Serves as point of escalation for complex issues. 
  e.. Responsible for developing and executing project plans, as well as 
coordinating groups of IT staff.
