Job Description & Required skills: Primary Skills: Windows Active Directory (Years Required: 6-8) Secondary Skills: Distributed Server (Years Required: 6-8) This position requires a seasoned professional with at least 10 years of experience in the IT industry. Candidates must have a very strong background in Linux and related UNIX technologies and possess detailed working knowledge as deployed in a mission-critical, multi-site enterprise environment. Tasks and Responsibilities: . Develop and enhance enterprise Windows and x86 hardware engineering standards for a multi-site organization, including operating system, hardware and server build standards. . Develop technical partnerships with key support, architecture, and operations teams. . Diagnose Windows platform and x86 hardware issues in complex, business-critical environments including physical and virtual infrastructure. . Provide 3rd-level support for an enterprise-wide Windows distributed server platform. . Design and architect new systems and enhancements to existing infrastructure . Produce basic project plans, root cause analysis documents and report on progress to management. Work experience (Required): . 8+ years hands on experience with Windows and related technologies, preferably in an engineering (vs. system administration) capacity, including design of Windows infrastructure and integration into new and existing virtual and physical systems. . 8+ years experience with x86 hardware design, trouble shooting, server tuning, optimization, and capacity planning . 6+ years of functional Engineering group experience, preferably in the financial services sector Working knowledge (Nice to Have): . Chassis/blade technology (HP) . Server virtualization (VMware ESX) . Server clustering technologies . SAN/NAS (preferably Hitachi and NetApp) . Systems management technologies (e.g. Tivoli Framework/related products) . LAN/WAN technologies and network protocols (e.g. routers, switches, TCP/IP) . Database technologies (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server) General skills (Required): . Excellent conceptual and analytical skills . Excellent verbal and written communication skills . Able to produce detailed technical documentation and server architecture diagrams . Adherence to corporate standards/problem and change management policies . A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required .
