Primary Skills: J2EE Platform, Java, Oracle, Server, UNIX, Web Services of Years Required: 4-6 Secondary Skills: Java of Years Required: 2-4 Job Description & Required skills: . Strong ability to work with the business community to gather and analyze business requirements and create technical / functional specifications; performs the analysis of these specifications to support the project work. Interfaces with the vendor technical team. . Leads complex / major efforts regarding the design, development, and testing of computer programs and/or application components. . Serves as subject matter expert (SME) in assigned area. . Resolves complex application and technical problems. . May serve as departmental liaison to interdepartmental or interdivisional project initiatives. . Analyzes complex performance and capacity issues with systems / applications software and/or application components. . Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies. . Provides mentoring and training to more junior staff. . Handles complex operational tasks and recommends processing and technology changes. . Leads evaluations of systems / applications software technologies. . May lead project teams. . Strong ability to work collaboratively with IT staff on development, troubleshooting, and other technical efforts. Tasks and Responsibilities: . Strong knowledge of business requirements and processes to be leveraged for the creation of functional / technical specifications and their development into code. . Displays problem solving and analytical skills, using them to resolve business and/or technical problems. . Possesses a strong understanding of programming languages, development tools, and the current environment. . Possesses a strong understanding of business requirements and IT strategies; draws on broad knowledge base (e.g., infrastructure, technology, and applications) to analyze complex problems and contribute to troubleshooting efforts. . Leverages strong design understanding and/or capabilities (e.g., database, application code, reusable objects, and interfaces) to optimize development efforts in a distributed environment; good understanding of development technology used to support one or more business operations areas. . May be required to coordinate small numbers of junior staff in the execution of projects.. Responds to direct questions from IT Management or the business on the effects of emerging technologies on product development and business directions; may provide buy vs. build recommendations or assist in platform determination. Required education/experience: . Bachelor's / Master's Degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. . 8 to 11 years of IT work experience in systems programming / analysis . Typically experienced across two Information Technology areas or in a single system / applications software development technology across multiple computing platforms. . Responsibilities more heavily weighted toward analytics than operations. . Practical experience of project management disciplines.
