*Job Description:*
Our client, a global leader in the Pharmaceutical industry is seeking an
Oracle DBA who will be primarily responsible for administering and managing
databases supporting custom and commercially developed applications. In
addition, you will design, implement and maintain complex database/system
solutions.This is a 6+ month contract position (with probable extensions)
for our client in Thousand Oaks, CA.
*As an Oracle DBA you will be responsible for:*
•Implement & configure Oracle software ((DBMS, Oracle Tools, Oracle Web,
networking software’s (e.g. SQLNET, Oracle Names))
•Implement & configure DB appropriate to business requirements (OLTP,
decision support, standby DB, replication)
•Set up Database tools and scripts to proactively monitors databases and
send alerts to enable the DBAs to reduce outages
•Create and generate various database reports to help plan for capacity and
performance.
•Investigates and resolves technical database issues.
•Performs analysis and determination of database performance
characteristics, data relationships and attributes, data flow and storage
requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities for multiple
applications. Recommends and implements SQL tuning opportunities to improve
system response and run times.
•Defines logical attributes and data inter-relationships and designs data
structures to accommodate database implementation, storage, maintenance and
accessibility to enhance performance.
•Optimizes database accessibility by developing load balancing
architectures and processes to eliminate down time for backup processes.
•Implements and supports database security regulations, policies, and
guidelines. Monitors security bulletins to obtain information of potential
threats; installs necessary security patches to ensure ongoing database
security.
•Functions as a technical project leader or provides work leadership for
less experienced personnel on a portfolio of databases, including
installations and upgrades of DBMS software and backup/recovery strategies.
Reviews and approves application and database design decisions to ensure
that application solutions exhibit high levels of performance, security,
scalability, maintainability, and reliability upon deployment.
•Accountable for all audit and security compliance issues.
•Create Scripts within SQL and Unix
The successful candidate will have a minimum 5 years of experience
designing and developing a large scale data warehouse well as the ability
to demonstrate the following:
•Experience and understanding of Solaris and Linux environments
•Working with Netapp and SAN Storage
•Working with HA and clustering solutions
•Experience with various toolsets for Database Administration, Performance,
Reporting and monitoring needs(OEM and Quest )
•Experience leading large initiatives in multiple functional areas of a
complex organization
*Preferred Skills:*
•A Bachelor's degree or equivalent specializing in computer science,
management information systems, or some other analytical or
computer-related discipline is desired.
•Oracle Database Certifications
•Experience managing regulated systems(Pharmaceutical industry experience)
•ITIL experience
