We are having a very urgent requirement for *Sr. Teradata consultant @ Frisco, TX* Can you please reply back with your consultant updated resume along with the contact details. *NEED: Sr. Teradata consultant * Location : Frisco, TX Duration : 6+ Months Responsibilities: v Manages and maintains all Teradata production and non-production databases. v *Responsible for Teradata standards and design of physical data storage, maintenance, access and security administration.* v Perform Production implementations and work with application developers to tune their SQL for standard coding practices and generate DDL. v Responsible for design and correct functioning of backup and recovery on DBMS. v Configures Teradata database parameters, creates prototype designs against logical data models, and defines data repository requirements, data dictionaries and warehousing requirements. v Optimizes Teradata database resources for optimum configuration, database performance and cost. v Evaluates and implements new initiatives on technology and process improvement. v Serves as SME in all aspects of Teradata data management and database design. v Serves as SME in all aspects of Teradata DBMS software. v Responsible for maintaining the availability of Teradata version 14 databases in a production and non-production environments v Ensure compliance in related tasks with company and regulatory policies and procedures v Perform additional duties and/or responsibilities as assigned v Follow proper hand-over process between on-shore and off-shore team v Responsibility for constructing and/or optimizing physical database designs tailored for the Teradata information warehousing database environment in support of various strategic application development initiatives. v Supporting application development timelines by reviewing and assisting in the implementation of designs and/or incremental changes to database definitions. v Responsibility for gathering query, CPU & Disk resource requirements for new applications and extensions to existing systems. v Supporting application development timelines by reviewing and assisting in the implementation of designs and/or incremental changes to database definitions. v Technical lead in critical database projects requiring skills in design, development, production implementation and monitoring phases v Define Teradata database architectures and strategies to meet application availability, scalability and performance requirements v Provide technical guidance for integration, testing, design, development, planning of new major, large scale, production systems/databases v Diagnose highly complex and integrated systems/databases such as system configuration, application design and application code v Responsible for configuration management, performance tuning and administration of mission critical production databases v Act as a database project leader for critical, time driven, visible projects v Perform short and long term system/database planning and analysis v Integrate/collaborate with application development and support teams on various IT projects v Oversee activities performed by less experienced DBA's for quality and consistency v Contribute to improving and creating DBA policies, procedures and standards v Design, implement and maintain standardized, scalable and effectively monitored database environment v Design and implement standards for monitoring; ensure that database environment is running effectively, including backups and disaster recovery v Work with database vendors to escalate issues if problems are not being resolved efficiently through normal channels v Mentor database team and developers on new database technology, provide database design and architecture oversight v Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills. v Solid technical and problem solving abilities. Requirements: v Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. v *10 plus years of IT / DBMS work experience.* v Typically experienced across multiple IT areas and all DBMS. v Serves as point of escalation for complex issues. v Responsible for developing and executing project plans, as well as coordinating groups of IT staff. v Extensive experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting - drill down approach with O/S, database and application v Experience with Teradata tools Viewpoint, BAR, Multi-System Manager v Ability to project plan, co-ordinate and carry to completion database initiatives, with solid interpersonal organizational and people communication skills, as well as solid writing and oral communication skills. v Experience with system utilities and load utilities (TPT, Fastload, Fastexport, MLoad etc.) Well experienced in data warehouse, data migration and other data conversion.
