Job Role                                 : *Software Engineer / Technology
Analyst / Technology Lead*

Job Responsibility Summary     : Monitor, Coordinate, implement and support
all batch scheduling & Operations

Location                                  : *Edinburgh, UK*

Duration                                 : 6 months

*Job Description:*

·         Respond to the user calls with in stipulated time and perform
initial analysis

·         Open problem tickets, prioritizing and take corrective actions to
resolve problems or escalate the problems to the appropriate groups for
resolution following the notification and escalation procedures

·         Maintain service level commitments.

·         24 x 7 Mainframe and Midrange Batch schedule monitoring

·         Monitor daily batch schedules, documenting and escalating abends
when necessary

·         Provide Level one problem determination for job abends and
coordinating with other teams as per escalation procedures for Batch
related problems and helping with resolve abends, JCL overrides, rerun etc.,

·         Level 1 Troubleshooting support for CICS, Database and RACF
issues before escalating to the technical level 2 teams.

·         Escalate to the Technical and application teams as per standard
operating procedures

·         Daily and weekly review of  infrastructure and batch processing

·         Document abend resolutions in the “Incident Database/production
log” for follow-up

·         Coordinate, plan & implement planned and Adhoc batch changes to
schedules for all the
environments(Development/QA/Production-like/Production environments)

·         Track all ad-hoc request received daily

·         Migrate schedules from one environment to other (eg: Development
to QA or QA to Prod)

·         Coordinate with other groups to ensure proper scheduling has been

·         Escalate excessive abends/delays, missing job documentation to
the appropriate groups for resolution following the notification and
escalation procedures

·         Process Knowledge

·         Familiarity with IT process and security standards like ITIL,
BS7799, and ISO 27001 (Preferred)

·         Familiarity with Incident , Problem and Change management process

·         Knowledge on any one Ticketing tool.

·         Manning and attending P1/P2 Bridge Calls

*Other activities*

·         Manage Operation activities

·         Participate in estimation, staffing analysis and solution in
order to provide inputs for preparing solution delivery for new scope /
change in scope of work.

·         Mentor the team in Technical Competencies and provides
performance feedback of the individual team member to the Project Manager
in order to manage performance

·         Interface with the customer for issue resolution, provide status
updates, Build customer confidence in team’s ability to deliver in order to
support high customer satisfaction

*Skills   *

·         Mainframe – z/OS

·         JCL, SDSF, REXX, TSO/ISPF, File-Aid

·         Expertize on at least one Mainframe Scheduler – CA7, Control-M,

·         Expertize on at least one job archival product – SAR, JMR

·         Familiarity with DB2 Monitoring / Logs / Tools, CICS and RACF
