That's the problem. Usually they post _links_ to the patches (such as
http://richlowe.net/patches/6221730.diff) but no patches itself. In a
few months or years these links are invalid, making it very hard to
keep track about changes made in the past.

And the Jive software ruins both patches and mail attachments to a
point where they are unreadable and unusable (gpatch can't apply the
patches anymore).

Its extremely hard to extract single patches from the whole source
which contains hundreds of patches.

It would be cool if the diffs would be part of the announcements.
