Hi Peter, There is one definitive list of sponsor requests: http://opensolaris.org/os/bug_reports/request_sponsor. Items are put on the 'awaiting sponsor' list when contributors send email to this mailing list requesting a sponsor.
So 6605991 is on the 'awaiting sponsor' list because a contributor sent email to this list requesting a sponsor. When a request comes through, the 'oss-request' keyword is supposed to be added to the bug in bugster. But because this is a manual process, it sometimes gets missed. Thanks.
