Position: *Network Engineer* Location: Austin, Texas Duration: 10+months Description: This position will perform engineering tasks required to support a highly complex State-wide network architecture, prepares design and technical specifications for network processing and for use in contracts for existing and future systems as well as the contracts to support current and future networks and related sub-systems; provides engineering support for technical problem solving; serves as a network engineer for Enterprise Applications to the Department of Information Technology's Technical Support Group; reviews plans and specifications; implements network configuration changes to provide maximum performance and cost efficiency; maintains network data communications, hardware and software configurations; assists with management of network access to support an open system environment; assists with establishing standards for data communications networks; develops application programs to track network utilization and prepares ad hoc and recurring management reports; establishes and maintains performance evaluation criteria of recommended administrative network hardware and software components; evaluates application software packages against user requirements; performs system maintenance, diagnoses system failures and assists with facilitating recovery.
