*6 months* POSITION DESCRIPTION: A senior principal infrastructure specialist who has managed and successfully implemented complex IT infrastructures built primarily with Unix producing highly reliable, high volume business transactions and has developed in past high quality documentation for the support of such systems. DUTIES: Focus primarily on supporting IT infrastructures hosting business critical application environments by using multiple flavors of UNIXs. Construct infrastructure models to meet business requirements required for capacity expansions. Gather required information needed for supporting infrastructure by working with cross functional groups. Understand the complex organizational workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces between varying information systems, internal and external process checks and controls, and outputs quickly. Oversee the integration of information system solutions, and build relationships with internal clients. The responsibilities include updating existing documents/runbooks for changes and develop new documents/runbooks as required with a high degree of clarity and technical details. Work closely with other team members for achieving group's goals. The primary work shift will be day shift. The position will require the candidate to be available 24x7 for addressing production issues SKILLS: The candidate should be knowledgeable in all aspects of designing, constructing complex infrastructure and information architectures. Expert level experience in multiple areas of computing technologies is required. This is a senior level IT infrastructure support position requiring high-level problem solving and technical project management experience. In depth experience and understanding of infrastructure optimization and the ability to present alternatives once the analysis is completed is required. must be very skilled in Compliance/PCI. The candidate should possess an expert level technical knowledge of most operating systems; primarily, UNIX Solaris/AIX/Linux/VMware, in-depth understanding of networking and storage subsystems and SAN, understanding of databases technologies and various debugging utilities. Familiarity and expertise in advanced system administration tools and programming skills for writing scripts in various languages such as ksh/bash/perl/python and prior experience of infrastructure tasks' automation is highly desired. It expected that the candidate will be able to develop custom OS packages by using advanced scripting languages in procedural or OOP style for automation requirements. The candidate should be comfortable and highly conversant with basic aspects of infrastructure support architectures such as sendmail, NFS, NIS, DNS, and LDAP etc. and databases administration. Ability to do advance debugging and providing technical leadership during debug sessions with diversified expert technical knowledge in enterprise applications, networking and other back end infrastructure subsystems is a key to success in the position. A solid understanding in VERITAS products VXVM/VXFS/VCS is mandatory for this position. Previous experience of development of custom agents for VCS will position the candidate with an advantage. The superficial knowledge of key deployed technologies most of which are mentioned above will not suffice. The candidate is expected to possess advanced knowledge and clear conceptual understanding of these technologies and bring on the table a unique skill set where he can be seen as the expert in that area in a team of highly skilled and experienced administrators. The candidate should be action oriented, innovative, creative problem solver, quick learner, excellent communicator with an ability to turn a technical explanation into simple English for the benefit of non-technical people, agile and team player with a high degree of general business and project management understanding. EDUCATION: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or related areas, applicable professional certification with 10-15 years of progressive experience in IT industry is required.
