Position: System Engineer Location: LA CA Job Details: We need someone with specific experience on Interactive Video Applications over broadcast[MHEG over DVB, DSMCC collection for ITV apps should be keywords to search for in resumes], preferably on NDS ITV apps infrastructure. Your area: Headend System for Interactive Applications You manage DirecTV ITV/IVG Headend system. This mission critical system delivers Interactive Applications and data to DirecTV Set Top Boxes; the system is also a corner stone enabling DirecTV Set Top Box callback. Some examples of the interactive applications delivered by the ITV system are Masters Golf, NFL, MLB, and all major tennis tournaments… You enjoy working on a diverse set of projects in a highly collaborative environment. Your role and responsibilities You are a passionate systems engineer who has a penchant for solving complex and interesting problems. You love to: 1. Analyze, design and develop robust, highly scalable Headend interactive systems. 2. Interface with vendor to understand existing products and define new features to support DirecTV initiatives. 3. Collaborate with other DirecTV engineering teams to ensure successful launches of interactive applications. 4. Support the QA team for features and performance tests. 5. Upgrade the ITV/IVG Headend system to run on latest hardware, OS and database. 6. Research and stay on top of industrial development of interactive technologies. Your Qualifications: 1. 8+ years of experience in large scale system development. 2. Knowledge of the interactive applications. 3. Knowledge of DSMCC and DVB. 4. Master of software architecture principles and design patterns. 5. Knowledge of database technologies, and network protocols. 6. BS, MS in Computer Science or related disciplines (or equivalent). Preferred Skills / Experience include: 1. Solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures and algorithms. 2. Strong experience with multi-threaded and highly scalable server-side development 3. Strong computer programming skills in Java and scripting.
