I think I'm not aware of such benchmarks, and doing such measurements would deserve a separete ticket. I think this recommendation was more important in the early days when Impala used features of then new CPUs, so they had an edge over other/older CPUs. But nowadays AVX2 and CRC32 are basically everywhere.
