German theorist of pop culture, Diedrich Diedrichsen, however, already informes us of the most elastic term of art history: ?After Pop I there will be Pop II!? That was in 1997, which means: Meanwhile we might have arrived at Pop III and Pop IV and? in the realms of photography: ?Baltic Pop?. Having initially proclaimed ?the periphery is the vanguard?, its exponents now play on congealed frontlines of western art photography. Everything is used, turned around, stretched and found rather funny. The photographers, however, did not take the bait their Finnish neighbours took who vanished?brilliantly marketed?into aesthetical arbitrariness. This is prevented by a long lasting culture of tragic which winds through the most recent past like a golden threat and creates the baffling oscillations which turns pop into art. ..
