Hi Stephen,
This is a know problem of YUM and caching proxy.
1. YUM deliver Updates descriptions as TEXT files, each update RPM package have one
hedaer "control" file.
2. Sometimes it happen then you will try to download this header file, but its on YUM
repostiroy mirror incomplelete for example due to fact then you just have luck to HIT
"YUM repository" syncing time
3. When you hit this situation then YUM will receive incomplete file and report
wronkg header
4. If you don't have proxy is enought to just run YUM again, if your proxy "cache wrong file" you can try to reguest it with wget and correct "don't cache" headers so you proxy will delete wrong file in cache
This is a very nasty bug in YUM design (on both YUM repository and YUM clinet sides) YUM
"must try to get header again" and do the best to send "DON't cache" command to
proxy.
This problem with YUM and PROXY is reported several times for example on CENTOS.
- If I need to use YUM I use SOCKS
- If its not possible to bypass PROXY I use apt-get
