Hi guys, I'm asking for a couple of reasons: A) I want to put a Beta machine live for testing and B) A few of our customers need PHP 5 so I want to use the SRC packages for re-compilation on RHEL3 & 4.
Installing PHP5 packages to RHEL{3,4} _may_ be hazardous to other users.
Are the packages kept up to date from a security perspective and if so, how quick is the turnaround at present? The release of PHP 5.2.0 has me wondering how best to continue providing PHP 5.
Were I running the beta, I'd be looking to fix problems with use, configuration and deployment. I'd fix security problems only if they impact those other matters, until those were the remaining problems. Some stuff in the beta might be omitted from final, no point fixing problems in those (whatever they are).
For those who need PHP5 now, I suggest installing a (shock!) FC6 box. Tell them it's an interim (aka trial) solution, until RHEL5 is golden.
You _can_ configure Apache if required, to proxy part of your site from another (the FC6) system, so you could have either www.example.com/beta being proxied from elsewhere (including from a private-IP system on, say, 192.168.1.1) or
www.beta.example.com being proxied from a vhost on 192.0.34.166. The FC6 box could, of course, be virtual. -- Cheers John -- spambait [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tourist pics http://portgeographe.environmentaldisasters.cds.merseine.nu/ Please do not reply off-list _______________________________________________ rhelv5-beta-list mailing list rhelv5-beta-list@redhat.com https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/rhelv5-beta-list
