= Para-Virt Drivers Overview = The Para-Virt drivers are virtualization-aware device drivers to be used in a *fully virtualized* guest, that runs on Enterprise Linux 5.1 virtualization. Using PV drivers will provide significantly improved performance for I/O operations.
Red Hat is planning on providing Para-Virt network and disk drivers for Enterprise Linux 3, 4, and 5 guests, to be made available as part of the respective version of Enterprise Linux. Red Hat is pleased to announce beta-availability of these drivers. = PV-Drivers Beta = The PV-Drivers for Enterprise Linux Beta program aims at verifying the functional completeness and performance of the PV drivers in partner and customer test cases. The beta versions of the drivers will be made available to all current Subscribers of Red Hat Enterprise Linux through the Red Hat Network Beta channels for the respective releases. The drivers can be tested, by installing them into an instance of the respective version of Enterprise Linux running as a *fully virtualized* guest on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.1 host. They can either be installed directly from Red Hat Network or manually after downloading the RPMs. = Feedback = Specific feedback about bugs or performance problems has to be provided via Bugzilla or your Red Hat Support contact. Bugs need to be filed for the appropriate version of Enterprise Linux running in the guest and the xenpv-kmod component. With best regards, the Red Hat Enterprise Linux team. -- Daniel Riek, Product Manager Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Inc.
