I'm working in a small company and we have a RHEL4as server. My boss wants to upgrade our server to RHEL5 but I'm not sure about it. I have to upgrade my server and rhn subscription now (because my boss is a little bit despotic man) but can i downgrade our rhn subscription to RHEL4 again if i encounter a problem?

Summary:
Licensing is no problem. Reinstallation required to move between versions.

Explanation:
When you purchase a RHEL license, you are entitled to install any version of RHEL you like within the product you purchase. For example I could purchase RHEL 4 AS and decide tomorrow that I would prefer to run RHEL 3 instead. I am fully licensed to do so. The following week, I decide to run RHEL 2.1 AS instead, and the following week I decide to run RHEL 5 AP. I don't have to inform Red Hat or anyone else. What I do have to do is reinstall my operating system each time. I also would remove/re-register, or at the very least update the base channel in RHN.

HTH,
Barry
