So I'm working on setting up a failover cluster, and I need the same network config on all the boxes, and I need it persistent. I know that ifrename should do this, but what I cant figure is how to get it to run before the nic's are brought up (adding it to an init script seems to late). (since AFAIK it refuses to work once the NIC's are "up") I have tried specifying the mac addresses by hand in /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-eth$ but that doesnt work either. I have one box that detects the nic's backwards from the others. I need it uniform.
Any help ?
