Folks,

Before I open a bug report I wanted to see if I could find out a little
bit more about this situation. I have a new Dell Optiplex 745 connected
to a Dell 1907FP lcd monitor that has a max resolution at 1280x1024.

After installing RHEL 5 via kickstart X starts up and is rather
determined that the lcd panel runs in 1400x1050. I've tried using
"xconfig --resolution "1280x1024" --depth 24" and "monitor
--monitor="LCD Panel 1280x1024"" in the kickstart but X always starts up
in 1400x1050. None of these settings produces a different xorg.conf.

Using the CLI for system-config-display --set-resolution is not
effective either. But s-c-display's GUI mode will add a Modes line to
xorg.conf and setup X to run in the right resolution.
I need to be able to configure this properly from the kickstart. Is
there a better way to do this besides lay down my own custom xorg.conf?

Jack

I'd be interested in the answer as well. The command line version of system-config-display has not been useful for me either. Right now I'm coping by using a diff and patch in the %post section of kickstart.
