After performing a fresh update of RHE Linux 5 server we could not get
updates to complete.
After a lot of effort, we found that updates would work over the
http://xmlrpc.rhn.redhat.com/XMLRPC url but not over https. Typically
it failed pulling repomd.xml but on occassion it would fail further on
transferring files, sometimes displaying badStatusLine messages.
We even went so far as to temporarily use the same ip and cable
connection as another RHE Linux 5 server that was performing updates
without issue to remove any firewall/switch/cable issues.
The system is up to date now, but it would be preferable to return it
to the https url, and completely resolve the issue.
Any similar experiences, or suggestions?
