The $ACROREAD_HOME/bin/acroread file is a shell script. You can add
set -x at the top and get debugging output. As for a WAG, I'd assume that some library links in $ACROREAD_HOME/Reader/lib/ are broken. Alternatively, I'd look at libraries in the Reader/lib that depend on other libraries that no longer exist.
There's also the acroread package from the Supplemental channel that may be worth looking into.

Hi, I can't start Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0.9 on RHEL5 x86_64 (I don't have a x86 RHEL5 system to test it on). I keep getting lots and lots of these errors messages when starting "acroread": expr: syntax error The installation of the software is in a central location and it starts without problems on RHEL4 x86(_64) systems. Anyone have this same problem or know how to fix it? Thanks
