I do this all the time and you should not occur any technical problems.  You
may have to keep you eyes on things like drivers changing names etc, and
if you are using third party modules you might hit version dependence.
But overall the system won't care.

However, as the other person said, you break your support agreement
so you don't want this on a production server.  But for testing or learning,
by all means there are no technical barriers.
