Hi,
in the last few days I have patched 6 paravirtualized hosts
running RHEL5. All of these hosts were built identically, and have the
same installed software. There are 2 physical hosts, each with 3 guests.

After patching, 2 of them have additional entried in /etc/inittab and
/etc/securetty for "xvc0". After some research, I've determined that
this is required to allow proper serial console connectivity.

My question is, which package install added those entries and why did it
not add them for ALL the systems in question?

For the curious, the entries are:

co:2345:respawn:/sbin/agetty xvc0 9600 vt100-nav # <-- from inittab

xvc0 # <-- from securetty

The packages that were installed are:

kernel-headers-2.6.18-8.1.14.el5.i386.rpm
kernel-xen-2.6.18-8.1.14.el5.i686.rpm
krb5-devel-1.5-29.i386.rpm
krb5-libs-1.5-29.i386.rpm
krb5-workstation-1.5-29.i386.rpm
libvorbis-1.1.2-3.el5.0.i386.rpm
libvorbis-devel-1.1.2-3.el5.0.i386.rpm
mysql-5.0.22-2.1.0.1.i386.rpm
mysql-server-5.0.22-2.1.0.1.i386.rpm
qt-3.3.6-23.el5.i386.rpm
tar-1.15.1-23.0.1.el5.i386.rpm

Thanks,

Kevin
