Jarod thanks. I am actually triple booting with Mac OS and Vista as well. Unfortunately I need Vista for a few things in my work, but moving away as much as possible. For this setup, from what I read (and experienced), I need and MBR and the A20 Gate issue is unavoidable (of course I could be wrong). I am booting from hd(0,2).
AS for the kernel version, I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I used that name and no boot. I get "file not found". Is is still "vmlinuz-2.6.18xxxxx? I could not find the package on CD. Well I found he rpm, but that doesn't specify the actual name does it? Sorry if my questions are naive.
