1. What which kernel corresponds to 4.5.z? ;)
2. Is there a better description somewhere about the root cause
3. If one installs a kernel corresponding to "4.5.z" before upgrading dom0 to 5.1 everything will keep on booting and things are just peachy?

Answering myself... kernel 2.6.9-55.0.11's changelog mentions "fix creating of RHEL4u5 guest domain on i686 RHEL-5.1 host (Chris Lalancette) [251013]". The bug itself is hidden.

I like to mention that I have such a VM and though it did already run
2.6.9-55.0.12 before 5.1 was even released, it just does not boot with more than one CPU.

regards, Gunther
