Before doing "yum update" you might need to add additional RHN channels
for the system.  Some packages that were in the base channel in RHEL 4
seem to be in child channels in RHEL 5.  For example, for RHEL 5 systems
whose base is "RedHat Enterprise Linux Desktop", it's useful to add
"RHEL Desktop Workstation" channel before updating.  (Possibly also the
"Supplementary" channel).

Also, it's probably worth doing "rpm -qa | grep -i el4" to find any
leftover RHEL 4 packages.  These can usually be safely removed, and
doing so can help avoid future confusion.
