Hi all,

RHEL5 is not a supported guest OS according to the VMware Server 1.0.x
documentation, but I think it should work anyway.

Do you have any experience running RHEL5.1 (or CentOS 5.1) as guest OS?

Yes.

Will the VMware Tools build correctly and install on it?

Yes.

Are there any known issues or limitations?

Yes.

:)

If I'm remembering correctly, SCSI disk emulation isn't working for some
reason, but IDE disk emulation does. Might have also been that SCSI disk
emulation doesn't work with the default emulated SCSI adapter, but does with
another emulated SCSI adapter...

I use the "Other Linux 2.6.x kernel" option when setting up the VM and haven't had any issues. I think this means it is defaulting to emulating an LSI adapter instead of the BusLogic one.
