Hi,

I'm running a fully updated RHEL5 x86_64. When I attempt to shutdown the machine (shutdown -r now, or reboot) not much happens. Init changes to runlevel 6 as expected but the scripts hang.

# ps fax | grep [i]nit
    1 ? Ss 0:34 init [6]

This shows up on 'ps fax'

/bin/bash /etc/rc.d/rc 6
\_ /bin/bash /bin/unicode_start latarcyrheb-sun16

If I kill unicode_start it doesn't make any more progress, rc 6 still hangs. I've had a few machines I've brought down hard accidentally (reboot when init is already in runlevel 6).

Anyone know what causes this or have any workarounds?

Thank you.
